About SkatGo

Frequently asked questions

Is SkatGo free?
Yes. Every lesson and every game against the AI is free.
Do I need an account?
Not to learn or to play freely: your progress is saved in your browser, and signing in is optional. The tournament of six deals needs a free account.
How is my score calculated?
In free play, a won game scores its game value and a lost game costs twice its value. The daily tournament uses Seeger-Fabian: a won declarer game adds 50, a lost one costs another 50 on top of the doubled loss and gives each defender 40.
Which rules do you play?
The international Skat rules (ISkO): bidding, suit games, Grand and Null, Hand, Schneider, Schwarz and Ouvert. Kontra/Re, Ramsch and Bock are not played. If everyone passes, free play deals again; in the tournament, the passed-in deal scores 0.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. SkatGo runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install.

Daily Skat

Every day brings new cards for two competitions: 1 deal today, which anyone can play without an account, and a tournament of 6 deals with your free SkatGo account. Everyone gets the same cards in the same seat against the same two AI opponents, so you can compare what you made of each hand. You play each once a day; a new day begins at midnight in Berlin.

Every deal is scored by Seeger-Fabian and added to your day’s total. After each deal you see how the AI played the same cards from your seat, and its score.

Each competition has its own leaderboard for every day, ranked by Seeger-Fabian total, with the AI’s total on it for comparison; you can look back over the last seven days. You stand on it at once when you finish, under the nickname you set in the settings or a random one. The tournament also gives every player an Elo rating.

New to Skat? The free course takes you through the cards, trump order, bidding and scoring step by step and ends with a complete game. The rules cover contracts, following suit and game values, with examples to look up.

Private tables

Open a table with your free account, enter your name and send the invite link to up to two friends. They sit down with just a name – no sign-up, no app. Start once everyone is there; the AI takes any empty seat.

You play by the International Skat Order, without Kontra, Re, Ramsch and Bock, as many games in a row as you like, and everyone sees all three Seeger-Fabian scores. If someone loses their connection, the AI plays on for them until they come back through the same link.
